Welcome to the world of licensing

A vital service that often goes unnoticed will be highlighted by North Somerset Council next week during National Licensing Week (17-21 June).

The week, organised by the Institute of Licensing, aims to raise awareness about licensing and its impact on everyday lives.

“Licensing plays a vital role in setting standards and keeping us safe,” said North Somerset Council’s deputy leader and executive member for regulatory services, Cllr Mike Bell.

This week, starting today, is National Licensing Week.  Here is a bit more detail about what’s happening:

National Licensing Week is an opportunity to raise awareness of licensing and its role in every day lives.

Join us and take the opportunity to promote awareness of the role licensing plays in your business and give a shout out to licensing practitioners everywhere!

Its also a great opportunity to showcase your business and the excellent work you are involved in!

Focusing on animal welfare during National Licensing Week

Arun District Council’s Licensing Officers are raising awareness of their work as part of this year’s National Licensing Week, which runs from June 17-21.

In Arun, a small team of officers deal with licensing enquiries, process applications, enforce the law and deal with complaints from members of the public regarding licensed premises or activities.

Raising awareness of licensing

We're taking part in National Licensing Week (17-21 June 2019) - an initiative that aims to raise public awareness of licensing and its role in our everyday lives.

Licensing is everywhere and matters whether we're jumping into a taxi, eating from a street trader, buying a pint or glass of wine, getting a tattoo, piercing or massage, buying a pet, giving to charity and many other activities. All of these types of businesses have a licence or registration, issued by their local council.

National Licensing Week and Summer event advice

Carmarthenshire County Council’s licensing officers are raising awareness of their work as part of this year’s National Licensing Week (June 17-21).

Councils across the UK are promoting the important role licensing has to play day to day – from supporting the licensed trade and organisers of temporary events to taxi drivers and charity fundraising collectors.

Despite its role in everyday life, licencing often goes unnoticed. The aim of this campaign is to change that perception.
